Discs in mouse often have an incisure and within the outer segment, the incisures are in register, as shown in the figure. Salamander discs are larger with many more incisures. For modeling mouse rod, each disc had a single incisure, H was set to 23.6 μm and (R + σε) was set to 0.7 μm. For salamander, discs had 23 incisures, H was set to 22.4 μm and (R + σε) was set to 5.515 μm.
