Optic nerves stained with H&E for repetitive anesthesia alone (r-sham) (A), and r-mTBI (C) mice. There is an overall increase in the number of nuclei in the optic nerve of the (r-mTBI) mouse compared with the r-sham and naïve mice (p<0.01, Mann-Whitney test) (E). Optic nerves stained with Luxol Fast Blue/Cresyl Violet (LFB/CV) from r-sham (B), and r-mTBI (D) mice. Panel D reveals an area of reduced LFB staining indicating focal demyelination.
