Organisation of the Apis mellifera csd gene locus.

Rectangles represent exons and white exons or their fragments represent non-coding parts of the gene. Arrows represent the position of primers used in this study. The green and blue fragments of exons 7 and 8 represent the localization of the amplicon and its restriction fragments analysed by the T-RFLP method used in this work. The amino acid sequence of an example of a potential-specifying domain of the csd protein (csd-PSD) is given together with the localization of its arginine/serine-rich domain (RS-domain, brown), hypervariable region (HVR, yellow) and proline-rich domain (P-domain, orange).
