Effects of berberine on phosphorylation of AMPK and ACC.

HepG2 hepatocytes (A) and C2C12 myotubes (B) were treated with 20 µmol/L berberine or 10 mmol/L metformin for 24 h after serum starvation in DMEM with 0.25% BSA and 15 mM D-glucose. Western blot was performed with the whole cell lysate. Stimulation of AMPK and ACC phosphorylation was quantified as relative optical density (C and D). Results are shown as means ± SEM from at least six independent experiments; *P<0.05 and **P<0.01 vs. control.
