Aggregated growth and aggregate dispersion after glucose depletion (panel A) was monitored by OD (open circle), cellular protein (solid square), and glucose determination (solid circle). Cells collected from plankton samples were extracted, and extracts analyzed for its content in cyclic di-GMP by HPLC-MS2, and data plotted (panel B) as total cyclic di-GMP concentration (open circle), and cyclic di-GMP concentration relative to total cellular protein content (solid square).
