mRNA expression of Cyp27a1 (A), Cyp2r1 (B), Cyp27b1 (C), Cyp24a1 (D) and Vdr (E) were measured in kidney (Ki), liver (Li), small intestine (Si), colon (Co), bone (Bo), abdominal fat (Af) and brain (Br) samples of mice injected with 1,25(OH)2D3 either once within 14 hours (14h, grey bars) or twice within 96 hours (96h, black bars) and their corresponding controls (white and striped bars, respectively). Expression of the mRNAs of interest was normalized to Gapdh (Hprt was used for normalization in bone). Graphs represent mean ± SD (n = 6/group) of relative changes (given as percentage and normalized to controls at 14 and 96 hrs, respectively) and data was analyzed by unpaired student’s t-test with significant p values indicated as: * p ≤ 0.05, ** p ≤ 0.01 and *** p < 0.0001.
